Motivate Me to Be Successful

"To think about your life is to create it. You have to take ownership of where you are right now and know where you want to go before you can get there. Keep collecting evidence for your success. You can believe it, and you can be it."

What gets diarised - gets done

Or to put it another way

What is written down, tasked, emailed to myself as must do's gets done.

I made a conscious decision at the start of 2018 to get more stuff done. It's not that I was being lazy per se, but I would get to the end of the day and wonder what it was I had achieved. And sometimes it felt like I had been spinning my wheels. So changes needed to be made.

So what am I talking about?

I re-started saving $1 a day. Sounds easy, but when you are deliberately not spending money you run out of $1 coins pretty quickly. So I would swap out notes for coins and continue. That is now being moved on a monthly basis into a savings account. Yes I could leave it in the mortgage offset account, but I wanted to create my Financial Fortress account as suggested by Brian Tracy. And talking of which...

I downloaded my entire series of programs on self help, personal development and audio material onto a series of thumb drives and I put them into the car. This week I have just completed the entire program called the Miracle of Self Discipline, by Brian Tracy ... Ah the irony. But it has made me even more determined to get more of what I want to do - done.

I put that series on during my commute to work on Monday morning, and over the days and the hours of my commuting here and there have gone through the entire course and started back at the beginning. Why go through it again straight away? Because you can always learn something from a 2nd and third reading and / or listening to. Bob Proctor has read his now tattered copy of Think and Grow Rich so many times, he can probably recite it verbatim - but he still reads part of it every day. Is he rich? Well I don't know his personal net worth, but I would hazard a guess and say HELL YES.

So I have turned my car into a mobile learning environment.

I am also taking a couple of online courses. One is very tech based to bring my design skills up a notch or ten and the other is NLP.

I exercise at least 5 times a week and have done so since the start of the year - if we are friends on Facebook you will have seen and probably winced more than once at the sunrise shots over the river around which we walk two or three times a week for at least an hour.

I've also reconnected with a couple of old colleagues and friends. We chat (usually via FB) and a date is agreed upon and put into the diary. Last Sunday I made a "date" with my daughter and we went and had lunch and chatted about - whatever she wanted to talk about. No opinions, just listening and a couple of suggestions on things to think about based on what I had read and / or listened to that she could use in her life moving forwards.

One of the biggest things though for me is making myself go to bed early. I've struggled with sleep for a number of years, so making myself go to bed before 10pm means I have, over the course of a couple of months re-set my body clock and I can get up at 5.30am without thinking about going back to my bed straight away. It's also meant that I get more stuff done.

Deliberate action and the results are beginning to show again - in a big way and it all started with a deliberate decision to diarise it and write to do lists. If you have any kind of goal it is good to remember your daily tasks will either take you towards or away from what it is you say you want to achieve.

Mine says - thank goodness, you are finally moving in the right direction.
