Motivate Me to Be Successful

"To think about your life is to create it. You have to take ownership of where you are right now and know where you want to go before you can get there. Keep collecting evidence for your success. You can believe it, and you can be it."

On Reflection: Victories and Life Lessons

As we move from one calendar year to another it is a good time to reflect on the things you've achieved, learn the lessons and make plans for the next few months / years of your life. Did you take time to do that? I did.

What did you achieve this year? For me it was:

1. I left a job that was making me ill for a job that I enjoyed

2. Paid down some debts

3. Launched a new business

4. Completed a series of articles that launched a number of clients online websites, and wrote a couple of books. I uploaded mine to Kindle this morning. You can find it here.

5. Helped a number of clients achieve their career goals

6. Finished my Christmas shopping early, so I didn't have to stress

7. Ran 1km without stopping - a big deal for me

8. Discovered a new park that I can walk to on a Saturday morning - in the heart of the city that is full of trees and bird life

9. Learned some cool new techy stuff, and read - lots of great books, articles and website content. As a digital marketer and writer this is important professional and personal development.

10 ; and kept going

There are a lot of life lessons mixed in with the above, but here are a few of the important ones.

1. Life is all about the small stuff...Compound interest, saying thank you, playing nice and doing what you say you are going to do.

2. Be grateful for what you have, and who you have in your life.

3. Clean out the stuff you don't want / need / use - and I mean everything, pens that don't work, chipped stuff, stuff you can't get in anymore, stuff you don't wear and stuff you should never have bought in the first place. And clean your desk so you have room for what is important - you'll procrastinate less if you know where your stuff is.

4. Learn stuff - the world and your place in it is constantly changing. If you're not learning new stuff you'll find yourself left behind - not good if you are made redundant or let go from your job.

5. Read stuff - stuff that makes you giggle, stuff that makes you think, stuff that you enjoy, stuff that teaches you a lesson or two - there's lots of stuff to read - read it, you'll have more things to talk about, and for every aspiring writer - you'll write better too.

So as one year ends and the new one begins, make time to reflect on your own victories and life lessons, large or small.

Here's to another year and a chance to do some amazing stuff.

Thank you for sharing my journey.
